Personal Background
Mrs. Lione's proudest accomplishment is being a wife, a mother of three beautiful daughters, and a grandma to her amazing grandchildren. She has been an Air Force wife for the last 32 years and between many Air Force assignments, has had to re-invent her career many times. She was fortunate enough to have been able to be a full-time mom to her daughters for many many years before entering the work force. Prior to becoming a teacher, which is her third career, she was a small business owner and the Director of Planning and Zoning in Washington Township, Michigan.
Mrs. Lione received her BA in Political Science/Criminal Justrice from Southeast Missouri State University, a Multi-Subject Teaching Credential from California State Univeristy San Marcos, and a Math Supplemental authorization from Univeristy of California Riverside. She just completed her Masters of Administration in Education and Tier 1 Administrative Credential from National University.
Mrs. Lione has been teaching in the Temecula Valley Unified School District since 2001. She has taught grades 3-5 at the elementary level, middle school math/science, and H.S. Algebra. Her current assignment is that of a secondary math specialist/coach for the Temecula Valley Unified School District. Her duties include instructing on growth mindset strategies, elbow coaching, modeling common core math lessons, providing math resources, monitoring the math intervention program, analyzing data, facilitating PLC meetings, and providing professional development at the site and district level.
Mrs. Lione has held and served in many leadership capacities such as: MIddle School Math Department Chair, Site Leadership Team, GATE Coordinator, BTSA Mentor, School Site Council Member, District Leadership PLC Team, Teacher of the Year, Instructional Leadership Corps, Professional Development Provider, and California Verizon Thinkfinity Trainer of the Year.
Her leadership responsibilities have included providing many different types of professional development including, "Growth Mindset" professional development, GATE Training, Creating 21st Century Learners - "One Math Task At A Time", Common Core Mathematical Practices & Shifts, Implementing Technology in the Classroom Training, and Instructional Practices (4 C's). At the California State level, Mrs. Lione is a Professional Development Provider for Building Educator Assessment Literacy (BEAL/SCALE), and part of the Instructional Leadership Consortium (SCOPE).
Over the past two years, her primary curriculum approach has focused on Carol Dweck's work with "Growth Mindset" and Jo Boaler's work with "How Kids Learn Math". The Algebra 1 class that she currently teaches is a hybrid course where the common core math standards and content are interwoven with "Mindset Theory" Practices.
