Teachers will create a "Growth MIndset" classroom by:
Students will adopt a "Growth Mindset" in the classroom by:
- Encourage students to embrace mistakes as opportunities for brain growth.
- Measure At-Risk student’s perceptions of their abilities with MIndset surveys.
- Build a solid number sense foundation coupled with Growth Mindset instructional strategies.
- Facilitate student participation in on-line “Brainology” and “PERT” Models – Stanford University.
- Provide discourse on how ability and intelligence can be developed and increased through productive struggle and tasks that build conceptual understanding of math concepts.
- Use “Growth Mindset” phrases and instructional practices as part of everyday classroom discourse.
Students will adopt a "Growth Mindset" in the classroom by:
- Viewing their brains as "malleable", and recognizing mistakes as opportunities for brain growth.
- Using "Growth Mindset" phrases as part of everyday classroom discourse.
- Self-evaluate academic performance on effort meters.
- Believing their ability and intelligence can be developed and increased with effort and challenges.
- Adopting Learning-Oriented Behavior.
- Participating in on-line "Brainology" and "PERT" modules.
